What to do in Foz do Iguaçu

1 – Casino Iguazu
Because there are no casinos and gambling has been banned in Brazil since 1946, Casino Iguazu is perfect if you are wondering what to do in Puerto Iguazu when you come to visit Foz do Iguaçu and the region. In Argentina this type of attraction is very common and the great diversity of games make this casino a great tourist spot for fun.

2 – Bird Park

The park was created in 1994 with the proposal to offer conditions for environmental preservation and animal reproduction. It has an area of 17 hectares of native forest, where it is possible to visit the nurseries of rare and colorful tropical birds such as parakeets, macaws, flamingos and toucans.

3 Borders Framework (Argentina Brazil Paraguay) 

At the point where they share a common border, Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay established their territorial limits and sealed an integration by building obelisks that came to be called Marco das Três Fronteiras. Each has a different shape and is painted with the colors of the respective country.

4 Buddhist Temple

Not well known to Foz residents and tourists, the Buddhist temple is close to the Paraná River, which divides Brazil and Paraguay. The space where the temple is located is, at the same time, a place for prayers and also a sculpture park.

Day 1: Iguazu Arriving – Iguazu Brazilian Side – birds Park 

At your arriving to Iguazu airport your personal driver will be waiting for you to drive you to your hotel

After the checkin at your hotel a personal guide will meet you at the lobby of your hotel  for a visit to the falls on the Brazilian side.

The falls on the Brazilian side extend over approximately 900 m. It has 5 of the main waterfalls of the the park and the visit from this side provides a magnificent overview of the site.

During this excursion, you will also discover a whole lush ecosystem that thrives in this environment saturated with humidity. Each of the small islets that separate the different falls is covered with vegetation and forms a micro-ecosystem that survives amid the tumult of the waters. A fascinating spectacle that shows the vitality of plant and animal life in this subtropical region.

After the visit, you will join the nearby Macuco Safari facilities to embark on a new adventure full of new sensations ( around 2 hours).

First, you cross about 3 km of subtropical forest along a path of the natural park in small open electric vehicles perfect for enjoying the preserved ecosystem around you. Then you continue through the forest, this time on foot, for a little more than half a kilometer in order to reach the pier.

There, you put on safety gear (lifejacket), then get into a big inflatable boat. Then boat goes through the strong currents of the river and tosses you until you reach the heart of the falls, the show is guaranteed.

To close the afternoon, you go to visit the Bird Park, 300 M from the entrance to the National Park, it is the largest in South America with no less than 1000 specimens but also reptiles. The visit allows you to observe multiple species of birds (around 150) in large aviaries in which you will be surrounded by flying parrots and other toucans. The place is really nice, a must to complete your stay in Iguaçu especially with children.

Day 2: Iguaçu – the Argentinian falls
After a good breakfast at the hotel buffet, you set off in a private vehicle to visit the Iguaçu Falls on the Argentinian side with a logging guide.

You will cross the river on a bridge which will take you to Argentina (don’t forget your passport!) Then you will reach the site of the Argentinian falls. This part is more laid out than the Brazilian, allowing everyone to access the best views.

Thanks to a vast network of footbridges and the small train serving the various accesses, you can admire the falls as well by overhanging them by the upper footbridge of 650 m long as by passing at their feet via the lower footbridge .

Finally, do not miss the highlight of the show and take the footbridge which, 1 km further on, takes you to the foot of the most impressive waterfall, the famous Garganta del Diablo (Devil’s Throat). It is the most imposing waterfall on the site, in the shape of a horseshoe, it rises to 80 m high and its perimeter is around 700 m.

Day 3: Iguazu Falls – Departures
